North Daytona Mold Damage Repair

This video shows the access hallway behind a North Daytona business. As we walk in, you can see the water still on the floor, and the boxes stored in the hallway are now all moved to one area.

At the end of the stacked boxes, we can see the first sign of mold growing up the wall to the ceiling. The camera travels farther down the hallway before it pans back down to show the mold growing all the way down to the floor.

When there is this much mold present, it can cause unwanted health effects. When the mold has grown this extensive, more people are at risk now as well. To remove this threat, the owner called us in to clean it out.

To stop the mold, we first removed the standing water. Since it has already retreated quite a bit, SERVPRO technicians began with extraction wands to draw the remaining water from across the surface of the floor. Before anyone began work, they put on basic breathing masks to lower exposure to the mold spores.

As these team members removed the water, others removed the property seen in the video. The items themselves were salvaged and temporarily stored outside, but we threw out the cardboard boxes immediately.

Once everything was out of the way, these team members set up dehumidifiers to draw excess moisture from the air. We did this to ensure all of the mold spores would be forced back into an inert state. Technicians next sprayed an anti-fungal agent on the exposed mold which destroyed the remaining active spores on contact.

Our team then scraped the mold off the walls. After finishing that, we applied a new coat of paint on all the walls. The paint we used contained a mold inhibitor which resists both water penetration and spore growth.
